Global Manager SHE & ESG

What we ask

In this role you are responsible for the SHE and ESG strategy and journey of DFE Pharma. You will be able to take the SHE and ESG strategy of DFE Pharma to the next level by translating our policies into action, build upon our SHE and ESG strategy and implement accordingly. You will be in the lead of several related initiatives like the carbon reduction program and responsible for identify opportunities, support implementation and track progress of the goals.

  • Bachelor's degree in safety or technical engineering with minimum of 5 years relevant experience in the process industry (preferably Food/ Pharma environment)
  • Knowledge or experience with ISO 9001 & 14001, OHSAS, VCA,  ATEX and the Behaviour-Based Safety concept. Able to navigate the regulatory field and handle communication with regulatory bodies / customs
  • Experience with sustainability, or a related field, expertise in ESG reporting frameworks, regulatory compliance, stakeholder engagement, and a proven track record in corporate sustainability initiatives.
  • Familiar with Sustainability framework(s) like Ecovadis and reporting according to GRI and CSRD. Up to date on the latest developments in sustainability improvement (technical/regulations) in process and packaging related topics
  • Strong communicator with influence skills, an analytical and strategic thinking skills solution-oriented mindset, proactive, self-starter, independent and supportive, well-organized and acts as a driver for change 
  • Fluent in English, culturally sensitive and an international mind set 
  • Willingness and ability to travel on business abroad regularly

Vacancy description

SHE:

  • Partner closely with all levels of leadership to create, maintain and improve on our safety environment and promote a proactive safety culture. Promote a culture where safety is priority number one and drive best practice safety standards across the organization.
  • Develop and implement the long term SHE plans on all sites and offices in the Netherlands (Foxhol, Borculo), Germany (Nörten-Hardenberg), India (Cuddalore and Bangalore) and New Zealand (Kapuni) 
  • Support local management and SHE specialists to obtain and maintain permits from the local authorities (ISO, OHSAS, VCA, ATEX), issue reports and yearly reviews, monitor compliance with regulations and (certification) requirements 
  • Ensure quality of processes and compliance with relevant legislation to minimize health and safety risks and contribute to a high safety standard.

 

ESG:

  • Championing ESG improvements by taking a leading role in the environmental improvement within DFE Pharma (Energy efficiency, Carbon Intensity, Packaging recyclability) and aligning on Social and Governance initiatives with responsible colleagues
  • Responsible for reporting of sustainability progress (Ecovadis, CSRD, KPI’s and ESG annual report) and in ensuring adequate data is available to support customers in their ESG journey
  • Translate the ESG initiatives into market promotion materials and/or collaborate with customers to accelerate the ESG improvements within the entire value chain 

Team Details

  • As Global SHE and ESG manager you will be part of a global COO team headed by the COO whom you will report to.
  • The ESG Specialist reports to you.
  • To ensure the realization of the ESG strategy and objectives you will work closely with your colleagues being responsible for Social and Governance and the Business Unit Director Sustainability who has the task to valorise sustainability
  • To ensure the realization of the SHE strategy and objectives you partner with corporate and local management, as well as local SHE Officers.
  • Close alignment with global management roles (process engineering, ESG program office, Supply Chain and QA/QC) on improvement initiatives.
