We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commissioning and Start-Up Manager for Food and Baby-Food Tech Projects to oversee the commissioning and start-up of large capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects in the food and baby-food tech industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the commissioning and start-up phase of the project are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable regulations and standards, with a particular focus on food safety and quality. They will work closely with various departments and stakeholders to develop and execute commissioning plans and schedules, manage a team of commissioning and start-up specialists, and oversee the validation and certification of food safety and quality systems.
What we ask
- Bachelor's degree in food science, chemical engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in commissioning and start-up management for food and baby-food tech projects, with a particular focus on food safety and quality.
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations, including HACCP, GMP, and FSMA, and familiarity with food safety and quality systems, including ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, and BRC Global Standards.
- Knowledge of commissioning and start-up processes, procedures, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Experience managing validation and certification processes for food safety and quality systems.
- Willingness to travel as required to project sites.

- Develop and implement commissioning and start-up plans and schedules, ensuring that all work is carried out safely and in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, with a particular focus on food safety and quality.
- Coordinate with various departments, including engineering, construction, operations, and maintenance, to ensure that all systems and equipment are commissioned and started up correctly.
- Manage a team of commissioning and start-up specialists, providing direction, coaching, and support as needed.
- Monitor and report on the progress of commissioning activities, identifying any issues and developing solutions to address them.
- Liaise with clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure that all parties are aligned on the commissioning and start-up plans and schedules.
- Ensure that all commissioning and start-up activities are completed on time and within budget.
- Develop and implement a validation plan for equipment, systems, and processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and product quality specifications.
- Manage the certification process for food safety and quality systems, including ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, and BRC Global Standards.
- Identify and manage risks associated with the commissioning and start-up phase of the project, with a particular focus on food safety and quality.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, including commissioning plans, procedures, validation reports, and certification documentation.
- Ensure that all commissioning and start-up activities are completed in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
