Program Manager - Dairy Development
The Program Manager – Dairy Development will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing dairy development projects across all DDP countries in Asia & MEPA. The candidate will lead initiatives aimed at improving dairy productivity, value chain development, and sustainability. A key responsibility will be sourcing funds and securing grants from international development agencies to drive impactful dairy sector projects.
Additionally, the incumbent will oversee internal and external communications related to dairy development projects, ensuring visibility, transparency, and stakeholder engagement. The candidate should be skilled in publishing success stories, managing digital platforms, and leveraging communication channels to highlight project impact.

Qualifications & Experience
- A Master’s degree in Animal Science, Dairy Science, Agriculture Economics, Rural Development, Communication, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in dairy sector development projects, preferably in Asia and Africa.
- Proven track record of securing grants and funding from international agencies for dairy projects.
- Strong knowledge of dairy value chains, smallholder dairy farming, cooperative models, and sustainability practices.
- Experience in policy advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and dairy industry.
- Familiarity with international donor agencies, project proposal writing, and financial compliance.
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to use digital communication tools, content management systems, and social media platforms for outreach and advocacy.
- Willingness to travel to project sites across multiple countries.
Preferred Skills & Competencies
- Strategic thinking and ability to design scalable dairy interventions.
- Proficiency in proposal writing, budgeting, and grant management.
- Knowledge of dairy sector policies and regulations in target countries.

Key Responsibilities
Program Development & Implementation
- Design and oversee dairy development projects focused on enhancing productivity, sustainability, and market access.
- Support implementation teams, ensuring alignment with project objectives, budgets, and timelines.
- Develop strategies for improving milk yield, farm management practices and farm economics.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, including dairy farmers, cooperatives, government bodies, and private sector players.
Funding & Grant Acquisition
- Identify funding opportunities from international agencies, NGOs, development banks, and donors.
- Develop compelling project proposals and grant applications for dairy sector funding.
- Build and maintain relationships with funding agencies, including World Bank, USAID, FAO, IFAD, and private sector investors.
Manage donor reporting, financial compliance, and impact assessments for funded projects.
Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy:
- Collaborate with policymakers to influence dairy sector policies and incentives.
- Represent the organization in dairy sector forums, conferences, and government meetings.
- Develop partnerships with research institutions, universities, and dairy industry players.
- Advocate for smallholder dairy farmers, ensuring their inclusion in policy frameworks.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
- Establish monitoring and evaluation frameworks for dairy projects.
- Track key performance indicators and measure impact on dairy productivity and income levels.
- Prepare detailed progress reports for internal management and funding agencies.
- Ensure data-driven decision-making for continuous program improvement.
Communication & Outreach:
- Manage internal and external communications related to dairy development projects.
- Develop and implement communication strategies to engage stakeholders, donors, and policymakers.
- Publish success stories, case studies, and impact reports using digital platforms, including the organization's website, social media, and newsletters.
- Create content for press releases, blogs, and publications to highlight project achievements.
- Maintain strong engagement with media, industry networks, and dairy sector stakeholders.
