Lead Statutory Accountant

The first Financial Shared Services Centre was launched successfully in 2013 in the Netherlands (FSSC NL). In 2016 FrieslandCampina has decided to expand its Financial Shared Services concept by setting up a Financial Shared Service Centre in Kuala Lumpur for Asia and in Budapest to support its businesses in the Europe, Middle-East and Africa region. 

Purpose of the role:

Reports to the Reporting & Accounting Manager. The purpose of the role is to ensure the delivery of high-quality and timely Record to Report services, with a focus on statutory and direct tax compliance, financial reporting, and process optimization. This includes managing complex direct tax and statutory activities, aligning IFRS with local GAAP, maintaining financial quality and compliance, driving standardization and continuous improvement. The role requires proactive identification of risks and opportunities, and continuous improvement.

What we ask

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Economics/Accountancy/Taxation
  • IFRS or chartered accountant certificate is an advantage
  • 5+ years proven working experience in finance and accounting or RTR, with 3+ years working experience as Tax accountant, Statutory accountant or relevant field
  • Excellent integrated knowledge of finance processes and financial statements (tax compliance)
  • Knowledge on local GAAP
  • Knowledge of LEAN / continuous improvement and CI mindset
  • English language skills

Vacancy description

  1. Ensure quality and timeliness of the operational tasks in the field of Record to Report, focusing on Statutory and Taxation:

 

  • Assure IFRS, statutory, and fiscal compliance; Review and update reporting requirements in alignment with Corporate Finance.
  • Coordinate and perform tax and statutory scope with high complexity for GBS-relevant operating companies (OpCos), on time and in full.
  • Handle and support financial statement submission to tax authorities and external auditors.
  • Prepare, consolidate and review financial statements and fiscal documentation.
  • Communicate and align with internal and external parties (e.g., GBS, CTD, auditors, tax authorities).
  • Support knowledge sessions for the Record to Report (RtR) team.
  • Support and oversee audits as per the internally defined structure.
  • Support the standardization of statutory and direct tax activities.
  • Bridge IFRS with local GAAP and prepare relevant adjustments.
  • Proactively raise risks, identify opportunities, resolve problems, and provide advice on optimizing existing practices.
  • Perform complex taxation activities and financial analyses.
  • Analyze and evaluate RtR tax and statutory processes; provide advice on improving these processes.
  • Implement complex internal and external tax and statutory process changes.
  • Perform month-end and year-end schedules.
  • Ensure internal tax controls are applied.
  • Deliver according to agreed service requirements.
  • Collect, interpret, edit information, or issue recommendations regarding bottlenecks, developments, opportunities, or risks in RtR business processes.
  • Prepare, analyze, advise on, and deliver complex periodical reports (quantitative and qualitative) in accordance with defined formats and procedures.
  • Provide insights on quantitative and qualitative developments through periodic or ad hoc reports/analyses based on reporting guidelines.
  • Prepare complex managerial reports.
  • Perform activities in line with internal/external controls, regulations, compliance requirements.
  • Support process integration and build strong relationships with interdependent functions.
  • Ensure coordination of financial processes with business processes in other departments within accounting financial guidelines.
  • Mentor junior team members and review deliverables as needed.

 

  1. Projects and process optimization:

 

  • Continuously improve complex integrated RtR processes, controls, reports and applications
  • Acting as change agent to identify and implement changes in the Record to Report processes.
  • Signal bottlenecks in complex integrated RtR processes, provide proposals for improvements in processes and procedures, and ensure implementation after approval and track progress.
  • Be part of complex Finance projects, contribute to impact and implement changes
