Development Manager Statistical Forecasting

Within the S&OP Planning function of our Global Supply Chain, we are looking for a Development Manager Statistical Forecasting to drive global statistical demand planning and implement machine learning / AI. This new role is part of our key transformative initiative: project Anura. Under Project Anura we are implementing a new way of working in our Global Supply Chain (both Demand and Supply planning) by introducing a next generation planning tool from OMP. Our aim is to move from a short term static sequential planning to a synchronized, data driven planning with E2E visibility across our Supply Chain both on short and longer term horizon.

  • Experience with data, analytics, statistics and/or Machine Learning and AI

Vacancy description

The Development Manager Statistical Forecasting focuses on the following areas:

1. Drive business adoption of statistical forecasting globally

  • Your goal is to promote the adoption of data-driven forecasting through statistics and AI/ML. You work closely with local Demand Planners and Demand Leads to successfully implement statistics and AI/ML.
  • Implementing this new way of working involves more than just deploying a new planning tool. Change management is essential. You play a key role in achieving the acceptance of data-driven forecasting. In this context, you manage resistance and coach colleagues supported by data and analysis.
  • You manage a global network of stakeholders. Occasional trips to the local businesses of FrieslandCampina are part of your job.

2. Develop and implement AI/ML (demand sensing)

  • In this role, you focus on parts of the planning portfolios that may be more challenging to forecast statistically but offer significant opportunities in the field of AI/ML. Together with local planning teams, you identify potential demand drivers.
  • You can substantiate with data how AI/ML can be utilized optimally to improve sales forecasts globally.
  • To develop and implement an optimal solution centered around AI/ML, you work closely with IT, local planning teams, the software provider OMP, and external experts.
  • You maintain a network of specialists and researchers in the field of statistical forecasting and AI, both within and outside FC.

3. Continuous improvement

  • In this role, you are responsible for the ongoing improvement of the accuracy, bias, and added value of our sales forecasts. You can identify and initiate new initiatives that will lead to long-term performance improvements.
  • You are part of the new Global Forecasting Team within FrieslandCampina and contribute to the development of methodologies.
